In 1818, Lambert Hitchcock founded an innovative chair company in the northwestern hills of Connecticut, where he produced his beautiful hand stenciled furniture. During the second quarter of the 19th century, “fancy chairs” were all the rage for middle-class American parlors and dining rooms. These emblems of social mobility were often called “Hitchcock chairs” after Lambert Hitchcock (1795-1852).

Condition: These are handcrafted chairs have slight variations. Wear and some breaks and missing pieces of trim at corners. A small repair to one back corner. Wear to paint showing red underneath.
