Monumental carved Walnut refectory or grand hall table from Italy, late 18th c. to early 19th c, the solid walnut rectangular top having carved running ornamentation of concentric circle borders with acanthus leaves at the corners. Raised on highly figured trestle base adorned with roman columns with central sculptural hand carved human figures. Elaborately carvings of Grand Mythological figures in the Renaissance manner flank the outsides and the legs are joined by a lower stretcher with carved ornate foliates. All original rich patina throughout. The size and rich decor of the table aptly expressed the social status of its owner. Imported from Italy to Cape Cod MA.

Condition: Some minor wear to top. This is a vintage piece and as such displays a mild level of wear from age. Any imperfections that have occurred only add to the charm and uniqueness
